Our cohort works to create, implement, and innovate new/novel ways for faculty, teaching assistants, and students to experience their lab courses. Traditional lab facilities and spaces often lack the capacity to serve all of our students, and our cohort works on creating, improving, and implementing existing and new hybrid lab models, which have already been shown to help more students succeed.
Geology/Virtual Labs Redesign Cohort Lead,
Beth Weinman, Ph.D.
About the Lead: Beth has been at Fresno State 5 years. Her main goal is to help more and more students succeed and close achievement gaps by giving students access to experiences and content that are targeted to overcome the resource limitations of our system.
Redesign Strategy: Geology labs redesigned using at-home labs. Hybrid lab redesigns are effective ways of alleviating impacted lab courses.
Redesign Outcomes: The biggest success in redesign is when it is supported by the department, college, and university levels.
