A QA-Certified course provides assurance that the online course has been developed and delivered with all components necessary to enable students to be successful in meeting their educational goals. The CSU QA program maintains a list of CSU courses that have met certification standards.
The CSU Chancellor’s Office, Academic Technology Services has established a process for “Formal Course Review” of 100% fully online courses across the 23-campus system. Utilizing a team approach, three certified CSU reviewers analyze each course from the student perspective and apply the instrument to the course, providing feedback for course improvement. The goal is for each reviewed course to obtain at least 85% of the points possible while meeting all core standards in the instrument being applied (QOLT or QM). Once the course meets these criteria, the instructor receives a certification letter and is given a unique certification mark they may place inside the course (e.g, LMS header of the course). Courses meeting this level of certification are recognized on various campus and systemwide websites.
Note: If wanting to perform an informal review of a course, see the QLT Instruments page with informal course review instruments.
